H&B BATCH PLANTS
“A Tradition of Excellence since 1867”

When Hetherington and Berner (H&B) built its first hot mix asphalt facility in 1894, a tradition of excellence began that has yet to be surpassed in the industry. As the oldest manufacturer of asphalt batch mixing plants in the world, H&B has amassed over 3000 installations worldwide to its credit; more than any other manufacturer.

As the most senior member of the Gencor family, H&B is the most recognized name in asphalt with a reputation of superior engineering and durable construction design. These massive structures are capable of producing up to 600 tons per hour of hot mix asphalt, with the incredible flexibility of producing over 250 variations in recipe and mix design to suit individual requirements.

Quality design, massive construction and uncompromising flexibility are what have afforded H&B the lions share of the batch plant market year after year.

The H&B Advantage

The H&B batch plant offers advantages unavailable in competitors’ products. Construction benefits include a massive tower built with heavier, sturdier materials for long life and low maintenance. Modular tower sections supported by reinforced legs are constructed of heavy plate. In fact, our plants are usually twenty percent heavier than those of our competitors.

Ease-of-use features include oversized access and inspection doors and OSHA-approved ladder access, toe kickplates and hand rails for safe access during tower maintenance.

In addition to innovative pneumatic and electrical features, H&B Batch Plants are equipped with the heaviest mixer gear reducer in the industry. An independent exhaust purge system evacuates both the elevator and mixer making it the most environmentally clean operating batch plant in the industry.

BITUMA CORPORATION
"Paving the way."

Bituma first began making hot mix storage silos in the early 1970’s as Bituma-Stor, formerly Boeing Construction Company, building a reputation for quality products which was carried forth and expanded as Gencor Industries. Well recognized in the industry as having the heaviest and most durable construction equipment, Bituma earned its way into the market as being “built like a battleship” with technological innovations in hot mix storage that are still imitated today.

Features such as the dual flow anti-segregation silos, the innovative one and two piece Self-erect silos, uniquely designed bottom safety gates, long term storage seals and unconditional warranties unmatched in the industry are what make Bituma silos the standard by which all others were measured.

Today Bituma, as part of the Gencor family of companies carries on the tradition of building the heaviest and most innovative hot mix storage silo systems in the industry. With even greater emphasis on longer storage and concerns for the environment, Bituma continues to be on the cutting edge of technology with features such as THERMOTITE seals and blue smoke capture systems.

GENERAL COMBUSTION
"Fueling our Imagination"

General Combustion with five decades of experience in drying and thermodynamics established itself as the leading source for combustion drying systems to the asphalt and aggregate drying industry’s. With 100’s of patents to its credit, General Combustion is the industry’s prime innovator of advanced combustion technology. Every major advancement in aggregate drying and combustion thermodynamics in the last 30 years was spawned at General Combustion.

With emphasis on fuel efficiency and reliability, General Combustion has continually strived to increase operating economies through sophisticated design and advanced process control systems that create the perfect combination of form and function.

General Combustion has engineered combustion systems that can transform almost any fuel into energy or burn multiple fuels simultaneously. Whether conventional fuels such as oil or coal or synthetic process or refuse solid fuels, General Combustion has designed a system to go beyond the norm, constantly pushing the limits of the imagination.

HY-WAY HEAT
"Process heat since 1947."

Hy-Way has been the leading choice in thermal fluid process equipment worldwide since 1947. Serving both the industrial and asphalt markets, Hy-Way thermal fluid heating and storage systems have been proven dependable, highly efficient and durable in hundreds of industry applications throughout the world. Offering a wide variety of storage, heating, and pumping systems to meet the needs of expanding industrial applications worldwide.

The Turbocoil Advantage

The superior high-efficiency turbocoil design of the Gencor hot oil heaters eliminate the poor oil circulation problems associated with other designs. Coking, sludge, hot spots, and burnouts are prevented. Only Hy-Way heaters have low stack temperatures, approximately 100_F above the fluid temperature, equating to more heat going into the oil and not up the stack.

The expansion tank is mounted remote from the heater so in normal operation, it is at ambient temperature permitting the use of light transfer oils. Lighter transfer oils reduce pumping costs and increase heat transfer. Additionally, a remote mounted expansion tank significantly reduces the chance of fire.

By contrast, heaters with expansion tanks mounted directly on top of the heater require high flash point oil which is more difficult to circulate at ambient temperature and requires more circulation time to bring the system to temperature. In installations were Hy-Way heaters replaced old competitive units, owners have saved an average of sixty percent on energy costs and with smaller units.

Hy-Way Heat manufactures thermal fluid heaters in horizontal and vertical configurations in outputs ranging from 1 to 20 MBTU with overall efficiencies of over 80%. Hy-Way also, offers several types of bulk liquid storage systems. From the space saving large capacity verticals to the highly mobile horizontal heat tanks, Hy-Way insulated storage and pumping systems have been used on hundreds of applications.

From asphalt to petrochemicals and from food processing to textiles, Hy-Way continues the tradition with innovative technology, experienced staff and applications to meet the needs of the expanding market.

THERMOTECH SYSTEMS
Experience Through Innovation

Thermotech Systems Corporation, in response to the environmental concerns of the late 1980’s, was one of the first to develop thermal soil remediation technology as a safe and effective means to a growing problem. Thermotech pioneered the way with its highly portable patented thermal desorption process which was immediately accepted as the standard for processing contaminated soil in many states.

Through the use of counterflow process technology, Thermotech was the first to perfect counterflow thermal desorption which results in much higher heat transfer efficiency, as well as, lower gas velocities and exhaust gas temperatures. The result is a compact, low cost, machine which eliminates the need for costly high maintenance quench systems, and ancillary dust handling equipment.

Through continuing challenges and demands of the market, Thermotech has also developed patented technologies to remediate soils with heavy contaminates such as, crude oil, bunker (#6) oil, and, mineral and lubricating oils.

As part of Gencor Industries, Inc., Thermotech Systems draws upon a century of experience in combustion engineering, thermal dynamics, and controls automation. Our success can be easily measured by the fact that, Thermotech has more proven units operating in the field than any other manufacturer.

Technology, experience, and innovation to environmental challenges, have made Thermotech Systems Corporation the leader in soil remediation equipment.
